Esplanade at Palisades residents enjoyed a variety of recent activities including a bus tour of Manhattan’s famous Lower East Side, quilting class, puzzle club, and drama club.
Drama Club is facilitated by Angelo Parra, published playwright, and director. We have a table read of various plays, much laughter and camaraderie ensues. The Lower East Side tour included stops at the iconic iconic Yonah Shimmel’s Knish Restaurant, the famous Russ & Daughters, and Katz’s Delicatessen.
Puzzle Club features a favorite pastime of solving jigsaw puzzles, which comes with the additional benefit of producing replicas of beautiful artwork and scenes that we can continue to treasure and enjoy after completion. The challenges of finding all those similar pieces is rewarded when the final piece snaps into position and we can celebrate the project’s conclusion together.
Master quilter Connie Woo began our introduction to the wonderful world of quilting. Our first project will be a pin cushion, followed by a pillow, then our first real quilt. Quilting offers a most soothing, social atmosphere where we enjoy learning a new skill without any pressure to advance quickly. It’s the slow and steady rhythm we are enjoying.
